Right >_> Well, um, hi. I'm Nyra, and I'm obsessed with natural horsemanship. Parelli, to be exact. I am currently a studying level 2 student, and, as far as I know, one of only two rping parelli student their is that uses the technics in their rps xDD Anyways, well, Juliet is my horse, a complete nut when I got her...think of the worse horse you could imagine..Times 12. No, I am not kidding.
Well, anyways, I had her for two months and was ready to get out of horses all together. I had seen adds for parelli, and saw these people riding brideless, and I thought 'hey, if they can ride their horse without anything, maybe they can teach me to ride my horse with something'
Well, a year later (which is now) and its all been uphill. I went from not being able to ride Juliet to save my life to being able to ride her with nothing at all Or, my favorite style, witha cherokee bridle *points to the picture* thats Juliet in a cherokee. A AMAZINGLY soft yatchet braid rope, tied VERY loosely under her chin. You ride with only one rein.
So ya, if you have any questions about NH, I'm your girl ^^

I have a 9 year old appy gelding that I bought 2 years ago. his previous owner had him from the time he was 6 months and trained him with parelli. when I bought him, she gave me the carrot stick, halter, and bridle, and my parents bought me the saddle as an early b-day present. I would b able 2 ride him w/ just a halter (one rein), no saddle, but he has the worst trot you can imagine, and I can barely stay on WITH the saddle. He has a great canter though, which more than makes up for it. I also get the Perfect Horse magazine, with John Lyons. It has a lot of interesting ideas that I'm trying out. When I first got Quanah (his name means "sweet smelling aroma"), he was terrified of flyspray, tarps, umbrellas, plastic bags, you name it. He wouldn't stand still when he was tied, wouldn't accept the bit on his bridle, and wouldn't pick his feet up. Now I can walk into the pasture with flyspray, brushes, and a hoof pick, and have at it without a halter and he's fine. I can also pick up his hooves with a plastic bag flapping in my other hand, and rub his ears and face with it. He also accpets the bit much better, though he still is stubborn about it. Pretty good considering I've only been riding a few years, and all I know about parelli is from books.(He's still scared of umbrellas, though)

Really I would highly suggest getting a kit, now that you have the carrotstick and halter and the like. Its wonderful stuff. You could beable to ride your horse bridleless for real, just like you rp (I only rp what I can really do >_> And I can't ride brideless WELL, but I can do it)
Juliet has the wickedest trot on the face of the earth, no one can sit it but me, and thats cause I ride with fluidty (parelli stuff, I LOVE fludity *snugs it* ^^)

how long have you been riding? I have for about 5 years, though for a year in the middle of that I didn't have a horse. I've only known about Parelli for 2 1/2 years now. Plus, it's my first year in high school, so I don't get that much free time to ride. I only have free time after it's dark or when it's rainy, cause I work on Sundays and run cross country after school. I'm also on student council, and am doing chorus, spanish, and honors math and science. So, yeah. I hardly have time each day to feed our horses, much less ride. But while my mom's horse Belle is eating her grain (Quanah is too fat, so we don't give any to him) I will play with Quanah a little, groom him, just hang out with him, etc.

I've been riding for *counts on fingers* ONE WHOLE YEAR AND 2 MONTHS XD Muhahaha. So ha, see, I'm not no experienced chick, nor am I 'gifted'. I'm actually a horse idiot. Parelli is just ridiculously great and ridiculously simple ^_^

Quanah is great from the ground, but since I hardly ever have time to ride him, he's not nearly as good from the saddle. Whenever I have time, I'll tack him up, then take the tack off. That way he gets the idea that he won't have to work every time he sees a saddle or bridle. Plus, if I REALLY have time and the weather isn't too bad, I'll hop on him bareback for a few minutes. I just want him to get used to the idea that I won't ride him every time he has a saddle on, and that the saddle doesn't have to be on for him to be ridden. I do prefer to have it on him though if I'm doing anything faster than a slow trot. =P
